THEATER
I participated in 4 "100% Comedy" acting workshops from August 2016 to December 2017,
orchestrated by Eric Laugérias and Vincent Varinier
from La Compagnie des Hauts de Scène.
I had the opportunity to play many different parts :
"Catherine" (a sketch by Sylvie Joly),
"Odette", from the movie Ca n'empêche pas les sentiments, directed by Jean-Pierre Jackson,
"Caroline" from the play Gros Chagrins by Georges Courteline,
"Irma Lambert" from Jean Giraudoux's play La Folle de Chaillot,
"Thérèse" from the play Le Père Noël est une ordure by Jean-Marie Poiré.
A wonderful new experience for me :)

Gilles and I had good fortune to play that sketch called "La Répétition" (the rehearsal).
It was created in 1977 by Guy Bedos and Sophie Daumier and it was performed in 1991 by Guy Bedos and Muriel Robin
at the televised Ceremony for the Molières (the French National Theatre Awards).
It was the first time the two artists collaborated.
This experience eventually led to a duet show: Bedos / Robin.

CINEMA
Between March and December 2018 I participated in 3 intensive "Acting in front of the camera" workshops directed by Hubert Gillet.
Hubert Gillet is the director of "In your arms", a French film with Michèle Laroque and Martin Loizillon;
he also directed « Lune », a short film that has received more than twenty national and international awards.
Hubert Gillet participated as an actor in many TV movies as well as in feature films
such as "La sentinelle" by Arnaud Desplechin, "Nikita" by Luc Besson,etc...
These great workshops are intended for any actors wishing to sharpen and polish their work in front of the camera.
Hubert Gillet’s objective is to give actors tools to help them go beyond what a director asks for and make suitable character proposals.
Well beyond directing actors, the idea is to put them on tracks, to provoke them to make them exist and live with utmost sincerity;
help them grasp the feeling of urgency on film sets and prepare for it, explain to them how to work on a set, how to find their place and make an impact.
Influenced by the cinematic style of directors such as Kaurismaki, Ken Loach, the Dardenne Brothers, part of the workshops also consisted
in exploring the actors’ expressions all along sequence shots, closely watched by the camera -
the goal being to capture the "truth" of the human soul in its most authentic expression.
*These interesting workshops took place in Rue Saint Roch; Saint Roch is considered to be the patron saint of artists.

On July 25th 2018 I went to the networking evening event
organized by CinemaClub at Hilton St Lazare in Paris.
I was able to meet scriptwriters, actors
and I even ended up speaking German with a French director
who declaimed for me Heinrich Heine's most famous poem "Die Lorelei".
Aaaaahhh, how beautiful, how intense, what an evening!!

I had a great time at the 45th Short Film Night
"Ce n'est pas la taille qui compte" (It isn't the size that counts"),
a series of evening events dedicated to short films,
organized and presented by director and actor Sergio Do Vale
at the Cinema Les 5 Caumartin in Paris (July 9th 2018).
A dozen short films were projected, all very different, all of a very high quality.
The film makers were there and shared with us information concerning the making of their movies.
A very interesting evening; I enjoyed it a lot.
A must-attend event.

I love nature and its beautiful variety
I love our beautiful planet
Earth Day is every day
I love animals
I am an animal lover. I have always had animals; they are essential to me.
Animals are wonderful beings that greatly deserve to be loved and respected.
"The greatness of a nation
and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Mahatma Gandhi |
"I am in favor of animal rights
as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being." Abraham Lincoln |
I love art and creativity
I love sport
I have played a lot of different sports in my life, a lot.
But the only one that I still practice rather regularly is swimming, a sport you can easily indulge in well into a ripe old age :)
And when I am on vacation somewhere where there is a good-sized pool, I swim 1,000 meters early every morning.
Sport keeps you in shape and lifts your spirits.

And let's not forget : dancing.
I have done quite a bit of that too.
And still do, every week:
mostly bolero, pasodoble, waltz, cha-cha-cha, tango, rock and roll, bachata, salsa and disco.
It is both fun and convivial.
Very enjoyable.

I also love...

I (try to) keep abreast of what is going on in this world by reading the press in 6 languages:
French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
Mostly on my mobile phone and on my computer.
I also enjoy watching TV
(the news, movies, investigative reports and documentary films in particular).

My favourite movie?
Hum, difficult to say, I have seen so many... but if I had to pick out only one...,
it would be Les Choristes (The Chorus)
by French film maker Christophe Barratier, such a beautiful movie, so well done, so touching.
A great cast: Gérard Jugnot, François Berléand, Kad Merad, Jean-Baptiste Maunier, Marie Bunel, and many more.
The kind of movie that lifts your spirit. Inspired and inspiring. Just beautiful.

I love Paris
Here below some pictures I took in April 2017.
I love(d) my job(s)
I was a market research consultant for the last 22 years; I am now retired.
I conducted what we call in our jargon "qualitative market research".
More specifically I was a moderator, an analyst and a translator.
To summarize a bit...,
I would say that I interviewed* a variety of respondents**,
I listened very carefully to what they had to say,
I gathered and compiled all the information,
and then I analyzed all the insights
in order to produce reports containing actionable recommendations for my clients.
This job enabled me to meet people from all walks of life, to work on a large variety of topics,
in a variety of places and settings and in many sectors
(especially Healthcare, Industry & Services, High Technology and Consumer Goods).
It was a job that fitted me like a glove; I really loved it, it was wonderfully enriching.
Before that I was a foreign language teacher for 30 years (business schools and language schools in France, universities in the US).
A job that I also loved very very much.
I wore those two hats (teaching and market research) for 12 years...
Please click on any of the pictures here below to have access to my marketing website.
Thank you.
* I conducted face-to-face interviews, telephone interviews, Skype and Zoom interviews, and I moderated focus groups and online communities (Europe and USA)
** Top management, company executives, healthcare professionals, experts, opinion leaders, consumers, users, patients, etc.

I love myself
Loving oneself is not easy for some of us; it has taken me a long time.
However, the time it takes does not matter; what matters is to get there at some point.
Only when we love ourselves can others feel our love and respond to it.
However, the time it takes does not matter; what matters is to get there at some point.
Only when we love ourselves can others feel our love and respond to it.
I love to smile and laugh and make fun of myself...
I tend to prefer to make fun of myself than to make fun of others for we are all flawed, aren't we?
I also love to play different parts, to put myself in other people's shoes to see how it feels. I find it both fun and interesting.
Interesting because it helps me understand them better.

And... I love learning
I have always loved to learn, to acquire new skills, all my life and I keep learning.
Every day is a new day
and
a new source of enrichment.

Il restera de toi
Il restera de toi
Ce que tu as donné
Au lieu de le garder
Dans des coffres rouillés.
Il restera de toi,
De ton jardin secret,
Une fleur oubliée
Qui ne s'est pas fanée.
Ce que tu as donné
En d'autres fleurira.
Celui qui perd sa vie
Un jour la trouvera.
Il restera de toi
Ce que tu as chanté
À celui qui passait
Sur son chemin désert.
Il restera de toi
Une brise du soir,
Un refrain dans le noir
Jusqu'au bout de l'hiver.
Ce que tu as chanté
En d'autres jaillira.
Celui qui perd sa vie
Un jour la trouvera.
Il restera de toi
Ce que tu as offert
Entre tes bras ouverts
Un matin de soleil.
Il restera de toi
Ce que tu as perdu,
Que tu as attendu
Plus loin que tes réveils.
Ce que tu as offert
En d'autres revivra.
Celui qui perd sa vie
Un jour la trouvera.
Il restera de toi
Une larme tombée,
Un sourire germé
Sur les yeux de ton cœur.

Que tu as partagé
